2023 UCLA Celebration of Iranian Cinema
The 2023 UCLA CELEBRATION OF IRANIAN CINEMA took place from April 29 through May 14 at the Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Farhang Foundation was once again proud to be the sole sponsor and supporter of this annual film series celebrating the best in Iranian cinema. We thank the UCLA Film and Television Archive for their commitment to Celebrating the best in Iranian Cinema for over 30 years. This year's series highlights included: The opening night premiere of THE VOICE OF DUST AND ASH by first-time director Mandana Biscotti. The screening of the classic 1971 CARRIAGE DRIVER by Nosrat Karimi. The premieres of UNTIL TOMORROW by Ali Asghari. WORLD WAR II by Houman Seyedi and LEILA'S BROTHERS by Saeed Roustaee. The series also screened the top-three official selected films from the 2022 Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival, where the top three awards of the year were announced. This year's winners included first-place winner KOOSEH by Behzad Azadi, second-place winner 113 by Neda Assef, and third-place winner WHITE WINGED HORSE by Mahyar Mandegar.
