Event Description:

A panel discussion about the work and legacy of Iranian Filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, featuring Jonathan Rosenbaum, Homayoun Ershadi, and Anahita Ghazvinizadeh. Followed by a screening of Taste of Cherry (1997), Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

About Panelists:

JONATHAN ROSENBAUM: Renowned film critic and author of the book “Abbas Kiarostami (Contemporary Film Directors)”.

HOMAYOUN ERSHADI: Iranian actor best known for his role in the film Taste of Cherry.

ANAHITA GHAZVINIZADEH: Iranian director and former student of Abbas Kiarostami and winner of the Cinefondation prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

About Abbas Kiarostami:

During the course of his life (1940 – 2016), Abbas Kiarostami, the legendary Iranian filmmaker won the admiration of audiences and critics worldwide and has received more than seventy awards for his works. Winner of the Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or for “Taste of Cherry”, winner of the Cannes Film Festival Award of the Youth for “Copie Conforme” (2010), winner of the Chicago International Film Festival for best film “Through the Olive Trees”, to name a few.
