Magical “Tahdig” Art

Bottom Of The Pot Crispy Rice

One thing is 100% certain, everybody loves delicious "tahdig," otherwise known as the crispy rice which typically forms at the bottom of the pot when you steam Basmati rice Persian style to perfection. In this episode of #FarhangFlavor we travel to Chicago and visit the home kitchen of Varta Melon who has taken the art of making "tahdig" to a whole new level. According to Varta "My tahdig, like my baking, is a reflection of who I am. I am passionate and proud of my Persian heritage and culture and consider myself a mix of traditional Persian values and a modern American woman. Food is the medium I use to be creative and share what I love with everyone."

We applaud Varta for her creativity and thank her for sharing her beautiful recipe design secret with us.
