On January 21, the Iranshahr Orchestra joins distinguished artists from around the world at UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall in a luminous celebration of the 70th birthday of renowned American composer Richard Danielpour.
The program features the Iranshahr Orchestra whose most recent recording of Danielpour’s works was released on the Naxos label—in performances of his Symphony and Violin Concerto, with Ida Kavafian as violin soloist and Stefan Lano leading the orchestra. The evening also includes the evocative work Breaking the Veil, featuring soloists Alecia Lawyer, Kristin Wolfe Jensen, and Catherine Gregory, along with the profoundly moving song cycle Songs of Love and Loss, illuminated by the artistry of celebrated soprano Hila Plitmann and conducted by Shahab Paranj.
The concert stands as a powerful tribute to one of the most influential voices in contemporary American music.
This program is made possible by generous support from the Gramian-Emrani Center for Iranian Music.
