The Hermès Birkin handbag was created in 1984 by the company’s chief executive, Jean Louis Dumas. He modified the original Haut à Courroies bag, which was made to carry equestrian gear, making it more versatile, easier to carry, and modern. The late British actress/singer Jane Birkin was the inspiration for this bag, hence the name. Each Birkin is entirely handmade by a single artisan in the Hermès ateliers in France, and it takes an average of fifty hours to complete one Birkin. Because of limited production, Birkins have become one of the rarest and most sought-after fashion items worldwide. Only devoted VIP clients of Hermès are given an opportunity to purchase these rare bags. This handbag fetches thousands of dollars above retail price through reputable resellers because of the overwhelming demand and scarce inventory.

Ehsaan Mesghali is a creative director trained in architecture, who has held senior positions at agencies and design firms in the Los Angeles area. He works as a creative consultant and design educator.
He has provided creative solutions for internationally recognized brands including Disney, Hulu, Adidas, Apple, Audi, Nike, Target, Fred Segal, and Christian Dior.
In 2015 he started producing fine art, experimenting with color, pattern, and calligraphy. The project was exhibited with Puma at Art Basel Miami in 2018 and 2021, in addition to the Los Angeles Lakers “In the Paint” exhibition in 2022.
Ehsaan currently serves as the 5th member of Culver City’s Cultural Affairs Commission, advising the city council on matters concerning architecture and the arts.

This work was added to Kouroush’s recent solo exhibition in recognition and honor of the current movement in Iran, by the same title. Each panel depicts abstract Persian calligraphy of the words, Woman, Life, Freedom.
Each work exhibited by Kourosh Beigpour in Mandal is informed by his mastery of calligraphy and typography and based on his deep understanding and study of ancient Persian philosophy of sacred spaces and mysticism. Each panel measures 51 x 36 inches.
Kourosh Beigpour is an LA-based award-winning graphic artist and type designer. He received his BFA in 2003 from the Tehran University of Art and received an MFA in International Contemporary Art and Design from Limkokwing University in 2011.
Beigpour’s use of typography and graphic design has been published in more than twenty countries around the globe. His impressive portfolio showcases his remarkable creative energy and signature designs with a special focus and interest in Persian and Arabic typography and identity design portraying his love and appreciation for millennia-old Iranian art and culture. Beigpour has designed for a wide range of clientele, including Google, The Broad, The J. Paul Getty Museum, UCI, UCLA, and the Powerhouse Museum.

Marjaneh Afkhami, born in Tehran in 1961 and now residing in Newport Beach, California, is an accomplished painter and artist. She has received an eclectic education across Iran, Switzerland, and the United States, including a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her artistic journey has taken her to prestigious exhibitions in Providence and Paris, showcasing her unique talent for drawing and painting. Alongside her artistry, Marjaneh’s passion for the natural world is evident in her side projects and as a licensed landscape architect in California, where she creates captivating, functional landscapes. Her artistic spirit also finds expression in her work as a floral designer.
