Farhang Names Dr. Haleh Emrani As New Chairperson

DR. HALEH EMRANI AS
NEW CHAIRPERSON
May 11, 2022 - Los Angeles - Farhang Foundation announced today that Dr. Haleh Emrani, who has been with the foundation since its inception in 2008 and most recently served as Vice-Chair, will be assuming the role of Chairperson.
"I feel privileged to be part of Farhang Foundation and work closely with its dedicated team. Farhang's success is fueled by the passion of our members, collaborators, and partners, and I am truly honored to be entrusted with the responsibility to serve as the Chair of this incredibly impactful organization," said Dr. Haleh Emrani. "I thank Hormoz for his incredible past leadership, and look forward to following in his footsteps over the next three years to further Farhang's success in celebrating and sharing Iran's rich art and culture with the world."
Dr. Emrani succeeds Hormoz Ameri, who has served as Chairman since 2018.

Leading this great organization has been a transformative experience for me personally and I did my best to perform the solemn task which was entrusted to me with vigor, fairness, transparency and prudence,” said Hormoz Ameri “Today Farhang has broaden its reach beyond Southern California to connect with audiences globally. The tremendous success of our foundation is a tribute to the leadership and support of our engaged Board of Trustees, our talented and hardworking management team and a cadre of passionate council members, committee members and volunteers. I am thrilled with our accomplishments over the past few years which has elevated Farhang to new heights and optimistic and confident that under the leadership of our new Chair, Dr. Haleh Emrani, we will continue our journey toward a magnificent and sustainable future for our beloved Farhang Foundation.

Over the past thirteen years, Farhang Foundation has grown to become the leading Iranian cultural foundation globally. Having established cultural, academic, and artistic programs and initiatives in collaboration with important cultural and educational institutions in the United States. Some of the highlighted programs include the establishment of the world's largest annual Celebration of Nowruz (Iranian New Year), the establishment of the historic Iranian Studies programs at the University of Southern California, the University of California, Irvine, as well as the recently launched Iranian Music Degree Program at the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition, Farhang sponsors countless Iranian art and cultural events for the community-at-large, including being the sole sponsor of the long-running UCLA Celebrations of Iranian Cinema, as well as partnerships with major museums, including the foundation's most recent collaboration with the Getty Villa Museum in presenting the remarkable PERSIA: ANCIENT IRAN AND THE CLASSICAL WORLD exhibition.
