Persian 101: Persian Language & Iranian
Farhang Foundation joined forces with STAR Education and the Los Angeles Unified School District to launch a Persian language and Iranian culture after-school program in public elementary schools throughout Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and the San Fernando Valley.
The goal of this program is to inspire students from all cultural backgrounds to learn the Persian language and other aspects of Iranian culture that are major components of the diverse landscape of Southern California.
The first classes launched in September 2015 in the city of Beverly Hills, and the program quickly expanded to Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, and Tarzana.
The program offers K–6 students an introduction to Iranian culture and the Persian language, encompassing reading, writing, art, music, dance, and more. Farhang hopes to expand this program to additional schools in Southern California in the coming year.
